The strap that comes with every Fiat 500 was clearly designed with minimalism in mind, but it is uncomfortable, difficult to grip, and often slips from your hand when you're trying to lower the trunk hatch. That's why I designed this handle so that it's almost as simple as the original accessory, but definitely more comfortable to use. The model consists of two parts: a holder from which the handle hangs and the handle itself. There are only two pieces of hardware needed: a M3x25 allen screw and a Nylock bolt. Although the OEM allen screw with cylindrical head can be used for attachment, I prefer a countersunk screw to distribute the tensile stress over a wider area. Anyhow, I have included two separate supports in this model: one for conical-headed screws (countersink) and one for cylindrical-headed screws (counterbore). In spite of the thinness of the body of the handle, I have provided extra material around the holes for the screws that allow the handle to swing; however, it is strongly recommended that the part have at least three walls. It is important to note that the hatch strut does not offer excessive resistance, even when it is new, and that the handle I propose here is perfectly capable of lowering it safely, even when exerting some force.
