The Portuguese Army conducts, between October 10 and 14, exercise CELULEX 22, in an inter-agency and concerted environment, contributing to the development of national Nuclear, Biological, Chemical and Radiological Defense capabilities. CELULEX 22, in addition of the Army's Biological, Chemical and Radiological Defense Elements, includes the participation of the Spanish Army, the Armed Forces of Slovenia, as observers, and members of National Civil Protection Agency. The exercise involves 250 participants, both civilians and military personnel. As opposed to Spain, Portugal allows the use of radioactive materiel in small quantities for the exercise's purposes.
